Very comfortable with good arch support. Boots are incredibly light. Great traction. Fit or sizing is as expected, but what does that really mean since you don't know what my expectations were... I wear a size 10 in Adidas, Nike, Asics running shoes and a 9.5 in Timberland and Wolverine 1000k boots.I read the reviews on sizing since I've never worn Columbia boots. I decided to buy what I wear in running shoes, as I saw comparisons between Nike and Columbia. That was spot on. Timberlands are always a half size to full size smaller than running shoes. Columbia is the same sizing as running shoes. Whether I wear regular tube socks or merino wool socks, the size 10 D/M fits me perfectly. If you have a wider foot, you may think of buying wider boots, as these are narrower than most D/M width boots. Keeps your foot warm. I'll update after our trip where these will get a serious 2 weeks trial in cold mountainous terrain.UPDATE AFTER 16 DAYS OF TRAVEL IN EUROPE - After our trip, we averaged 6 miles of walking each day. Some of our hiking was off-road, but most was on uneven roads. Part of our hiking was in 4"-6" snow. As for water-proofing, my boots never got water logged and my feet stayed warm and dry throughout the German winter (27 to 34 degrees). Traction was excellent. My feet never really hurt, even after 4-5 hours on concrete in a museum. No blisters. The only frustrating thing is how difficult it is to get these boots tied tightly. If you pull the middle laces taut, they immediately loosen up. If you try to tighten the laces from the top, the middle will not get snug. So, the only way to lace these up is to start in the middle laces and get them tight. Hold one side from slipping and loosening. Then repeat until you get all the way to the top. Pretty frustrating, but not enough to ding the boots a star or two. Even with this design flaw (IMO), these boots are better than Timberlands I've owned.
