I live in the SoCal desert and was riding in 115 heat last week. After about 20 minutes the back of my thighs were practically on fire from the engine heat. I had to get off the bike for a minute because it was so painful.So I just put these on. Pain in the but. Getting the wings attached to the brackets is tough. My rocker cover was so close I had to flip the screws around on the front brackets. So the shield doesn't get in the way when my feet are up on the footboards but they do when I stop. When my feet are on the ground these are bending under the weight of my legs. I certainly hope they don't snap in half - especially when hot. We'll see. I also haven't ridden as long as I did the other day (and right now it's only 90) so don't know if they solved my problem. But other reviewers say they do so we'll see on that too.UPDATE: These cracked after the "batwing" points were always in the way and catching on my pants. Kuryakyn covered then cracked plastic under warranty and replaced them.I then went to Omar's Plastics in Palm Springs, CA 92260. He rounded off the points for $15 and I could be happier (see photo of original shape versus rounded). I didn't want to mess with my dremel on smoked chromed plexi. He said if they don't hold up he's do them in ¼ inch instead of the stock ⅛. (If he does, they won't be chromed).So I'm hoping for the best. You can ship them to Omar or have a local plastic guys do them (or do them yourself).
